Gentle unwinding of scar tissue is now available at Fountain of Youth.
Jerica learned the innovative fascial treatment under the tutelage of Sharon Wheeler. Sharon is the founder of ScarWork and the author of Scars, Adhesions, and the Biotensegral Body. She studied under Dr. Ida Rolf, the founder of Structural Integration. Sharon’s method of ScarWork is unique around the world and informed by over 50 years of Structural Integration, which is the backbone of SOMA Massage.
ScarWork can address new and old injuries, although the injury needs to be at least 6 weeks old to work directly on it. ScarWork is appropriate for a wide variety of scars: bite and burn marks, partial tears (like knee injuries), and surgical scars (like mastectomies, hip replacements). It is also appropriate for scarring which is well hidden from view, like internal scar tissue in the chest, abdomen, and pelvis from complicated surgeries.
ScarWork is very gentle and not typically painful. A surprising outcome that many recipients appreciate is that the color of the skin may change as it heals. The body will grow new skin tissue, even improving the look of burn marks. ScarWork addresses the layers within scars often resulting in whole body shifts in physical comfort, along with the resolution of emotional traumas and improvement of numbness from damaged nerves.
At Fountain of Youth, you’ll find a private, safe space to resolve your scars with a trauma-informed practitioner. If you’re ready to try scar work, contact Jerica today.
